Age Requirements

Our courses are designed for adult learners ages 18 and older. For those under 18 who wish to enroll in a class, a parent or guardian will be required to sign a waiver and receive staff approval prior to registering.

Refund & Attendance Policy

The College of Professional Education is proud to be a self-supporting part of the KSU community. All costs are covered through student registration fees.

Full payment of the course fee is required to be officially registered for any Professional Education course.

In the event you withdraw from a class, we are happy to refund your fees according to the policy set forth below. Refunds paid by cash or check take approximately 2 to 4 weeks and are issued by Business Services. If payment was made by credit card, your account will be credited.

In rare instances, classes with low enrollment may be canceled. We will make every effort to notify you of changes or cancellations. In the event of a cancellation or change by us, we will provide the student with a 100% refund or transfer to an equivalent class.

Course Refund Policy

  • 100% refund for all withdrawals or transfers made three or more business days (Monday – Friday) before the first day of class.
  • 80% refund for all withdrawals or transfers made one or two business days (Monday – Friday) before the first day of class.
  • 0% refund for all withdrawals or transfers made the day class begins or anytime following.
  • Exception: For Online course refund policies, please see below.
  • Refunds: If you paid by cash or check, refunds are processed in approximately 2 to 4 weeks. If you paid by credit card, your account will be credited.

Attendance: You must attend a minimum of 80% of all classes to receive CEU credits and completion certificates. Classes which meet four (4) or less sessions require 100% attendance to meet this requirement. For online courses, you must receive a score of 80% or higher on the final exam or course assessment.

Books and Supplies: Unless otherwise noted in the catalog, books and supplies are available at the KSU Center bookstore. To purchase software that is available at the educational discount price, you will need a permission letter from the program coordinator. Please contact your program coordinator for more information. Satellite bookstore hours are Monday through Thursday 4-8pm and Saturday 8:30-11:30am.

Online Course Refund Policy:

For courses that start once a month:
A 100% refund is available prior to the first lesson release, a 50% refund after the first lesson release and before the second lesson release, & NO refund will be given after the second lesson release.

For courses that start anytime and self paced:
NO refunds are available for these courses.

Exception for Online Real Estate Courses: You have the right to cancel your registration for any reason up to three (3) business days from the date of purchase. A 15% cancellation fee will be charged to cancel your registration.

Exception for Online TESOL, Human Resources Management SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, and Payroll Courses:

  • 100% refund for all withdrawals or transfers made three or more business days (Monday – Friday) before the first day of class.
  • 80% refund for all withdrawals or transfers made one or two business days (Monday – Friday) before the first day of class.
  • 0% refund for all withdrawals or transfers made the day class begins or anytime following.

Invoice Policy

Effective Monday, February 12, 2001, a new policy was implemented for the payment of course fees. As before, we will continue to accept cash, checks, and credit cards. However, we have changed the policy for company invoicing. We will now invoice the student’s company only upon receipt of one of the following documents:

  1. A company purchase order. This is the actual purchase order, not just a purchase order number. This may be faxed to us at 470-578-9085.
  2. A letter of authorization from the student’s company that is written on company letterhead. This letter must state the student has permission to take the course and that the company guarantees payment.
  3. A corporate educational voucher (currently being used by large companies such as Bell South, Ford Motors, AT&T, GTE, etc.)

We will be unable to register a student for courses until the purchase order or other paperwork has actually been received. Also, we will not accept contingent purchase orders, such as “must receive a grade of 70% or better.” If a student is concerned about losing a seat in a class, but must wait for their company to issue a purchase order, we suggest that the student pay with their personal or corporate credit card. The company can then reimburse the student.

Privacy of Learner Records

In order to protect the privacy of learner records, the College of Professional Education follows the guidelines and provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974. In addition to FERPA guidelines, additional measures are taken to ensure that the privacy of learner records is maintained. Strict policies and procedures are in place concerning the privacy and release of learner records.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974, commonly referred to as the Buckley Amendment, protects the rights of students by controlling the creation, maintenance, and access to educational records. It guarantees students’ access to their academic records while prohibiting unauthorized access by others. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Documents: This series documents the process of student information release requests and consent authorizations or denials in accordance with FERPA. Records may include but are not limited to requests for formal hearings; requests for release of personally identifiable information; records of disclosures made to third parties; written consent of the student to disclose records; waivers for rights of access; and related documentation and correspondence.

Release of Learner Records – All requests for learner records are to be requested in writing and require a signed release (waiver) from the student. This includes student requested transcripts and enrollment verifications. Third party requests for any student information and requests for student information over the phone will not be honored. If a third party requests information in person without the student being present, a signed waiver giving permission by the student must be presented. The signed waiver must state the institution, company or individual requesting the information. These requests may include verification of class attendance/participation, grades, enrollment, and other personal information. All request forms are located on our website under the registration tab.

Release of Directory Information – Unless a student has signed a “Release of Directory Information” form, we may disclose, without consent, “directory” information such as name, major, advisor, dates of attendance, degrees awarded, participation in recognized activities and sports, weight and height of athletic participants. Under the provisions of FERPA, the student has the right to withhold the disclosure of the above-mentioned categories of “Directory Information”. The school has the obligation to inform the student, and if applicable the parent, that this form exists and must give a reasonable amount of time to request that the school not disclose information about them. In signing the form, the student must also be made aware that any future requests for such information from non-institutional persons or organizations will be refused, including emergencies. If you wish to change your “Release of Directory Information” preferences, complete the provided Release of Directory Information form. Students can submit completed forms by mail, email, fax, or in person.

Accommodations for Students with Disabilities

Kennesaw State University provides program accessibility and reasonable accommodations for persons defined as disabled under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.  Kennesaw State University does not deny admission or subject any prospective student to discrimination in the admissions process.

A number of services are available to help students with disabilities with their academic work. In order to make arrangements for special services, students must contact the Office for Disabled Student Support Services 470-578-2666 and make an appointment to arrange an individual assistance plan. In most cases, certification of disability is required. See their website at sds.kennesaw.edu for more information. Special services are based on medical and/or psychological certification of disability and ability to complete tasks required in courses.

Requests for accommodations should be made in a timely manner (in most cases, two weeks’ notice) to assure that appropriate accommodations can be arranged.

Student Code of Conduct

By enrolling in a College of Professional Education class at KSU, students agree to conduct themselves at all times in a manner conducive to the promotion of a positive and pleasant learning environment for themselves and others. Belligerent, abusive, profane, threatening and/or inappropriate behavior on the part of students is a violation of the Kennesaw State University Student Code of Conduct. Students who are found in violation of the Code of Conduct may be subject to immediate dismissal and may be prohibited from registering for additional College of Continuing and Professional Education classes.

All College of Professional Education students are expected to uphold the highest honor and integrity in completing class assignments. Plagiarism, cheating and all other forms of academic dishonesty are expressly forbidden. A student engaging in, or assisting others to engage in such acts will result in dismissal without refund and may be prohibited from registering for additional College of Professional Education classes. CEUs will not be awarded and a failing grade will be assigned on the student’s transcript (if appropriate).
